Movie meter: Margin Call (2011)

What happens in the layers of management of a trading/investing firm when there’s a situation that can turn everything to shit.

When getting into the movie, the scenes feel a bit ‘fast’, but as the movie progresses, the stakes become more clear, the individual goals are portrayed, and you actually feel what’s at stake for each individual character. Almost all scenes happen in the same building, over the span of two days, but the fact it doesn’t feel like that tells me it was done very well.

Kevin Spacey’s acting, even if his facial expressions don’t always tell, is well done, as is Paul Bettany’s.

You have to use your head, but it quickly becomes a lot clearer when humanity and personal gains are at stake. Well done.
